4 Ways to Transition Your Wardrobe into Fall

Written by: Zanita Studio

By now, summer dressing has become a little bit harder with inspiration lacking at every source we turn to. Off the shoulder tops, slides, frayed denim shorts & skirts - yawning just a little… It’s hard to keep the heat burning when everyone and everything feeds us pumpkin spice (i.e. boots, fur, and knits) left and right.

We’re looking at you September issue…

So why not simplify things and start incorporating fall motifs into what’s left of summer? That way, by the time fall/winter arrives, you’ll already have a few key players upkeeping your fresh and trendy closet.

Need help (or inspiration)? Great! Here’s how you can transition your wardrobe into fall:

#1 Footwear game: Ballet flats or sock boots

Say bye to slides and intro. ballet flats or ankle sock booties (aka elastic ankle boots) - they’re raging wild. You’ll be happy to hear that the footwear swap doesn’t compromise comfort and either of them are just as easy to prance in as the hooves you donned all summer long!

#2 Revisit Novelty Fabrics

Fall trans is the best time to experiment with new textures and fabrics… Velvet snuck its way into the apparel world four years ago, but it didn’t make much noise. This year, we’ve got no reason to believe that its presence will go unnoticed. Keep your options open though because lurex also seems to be giving us a run for our money.

#3 Grunge is afloat

We all know leather never goes out of style, but make note of its increasing ubiety this year over last - we all could have insinuated this considering the favorable and prominent 90s redux. The leather could be patent, it could be matte, oversized or fitted, but just know that excess leather is officially in.

#4 Revisit the hoodie

Athleisure isn’t dead nor is it dying. Hey, we’re not complaining because comfort is nothing to complain about. Snuggling up in your hoodies has never been more appropriate than now (especially as an adult) - better yet, go dig ’em out from your college stash.
