Life Update: Still Alive and Blogging

Written by: Zanita Whittington

Well it’s been a while since I last featured a life update here on the blog.

And while I’ve been doing my best to share everything that’s been going down in my life on social, I feel like I haven’t really been doing those channels much service either. So YES, I’m still alive and blogging!

I do at times feel like I could be a little tired of sharing everything online or a certain pressure for everything to be polished and a huge production. I got into this game to be part of something, a community - and today, I feel like I have so much of that in my lifestyle, there’s no need to share every detail. I spoke about how I felt to Eva Chen recently and we discussed the evolution of social media. I do believe in a return to all things candid, despite my affinity for glamourous editing. I’m looking forward to thinking about sharing online in a new way, feeling less pressure. I think I’m already getting there!

Another reason why it’s been important to change my way of thinking - is Azalle. I can’t really say much more at this point other than it’s a big project that’s taking almost all of my time. I’m so inspired! Will be able to share more in the coming weeks and I hope you guys love it.

Meanwhile, you’ve probably met my darling Wallace on Instagram this past week. He’s a 7-9 month old Dachshund mix - and as to with what, I’d love to hear suggestions. My guess is Miniature Pinscher because he’s got such long legs. He was found tied to a tree and abandoned in South Carolina with his sister, who looks similar but has longer and lighter hair. Many dogs are rescued from High-Kill Shelters down south in the US - poverty is higher there and people are unable to afford neutering; there’s also higher cases dog fighting and worse. Many rescues are shipped North where they are likely to find homes. We picked up Wallace at the Home for Good Dogs shelter in Berkley Heights. He’s the sweetest little guy! Initially, he was terrified and I held him tight and comforted him on the hour long drive home, then he bonded with me that day and whimpered when I left the room! A week later now, he’s such a happy little guy - so well behaved and quiet. He loves going for walks and other dogs. Didn’t think I could love an animal so much!

In short, it’s hard to get work done when he’s around. We work in shared offices here in NYC and they allow dogs so there’s always playtime happening. I feel like I’m becoming one of those Mums who doesn’t stop talking about her child. He is just precious!

And I am just so damn annoying. #sorrynotsorry

Anyway, it’s past 6 pm here and I am tired of looking at a screen. I’ve got errands to run and slightly concerned Wallace might piss in one of the conference rooms if I don’t take his little puppy butt out for a walk. I can never be mad at him!

Looking forward to sharing more images in the coming weeks! Also, we finally have a photographer on our team. I’m coming back baby!

Miss you all 🙂

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.
