How to Keep LGBT Pride Month Going

Written by: Eduarda Loureiro

In case you didn’t know, LGBT Pride is celebrated in June annually.

While we are past it, there are always ways we can perpetuate the celebration, just like Mother’s and Father’s Day, LGBT pride should be honored every day!

Taking a stroll down history, the reason why it’s celebrated in June dates back to 1969 with the Stonewall riots in Manhattan. This was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. What began with only a day’s worth of celebration quickly expanded to a month’s event. People began gathering for parades, picnics, parties, concerts, and so on to celebrate their pride in being part of a (huge) LGBT community.

It’s important to celebrate these accomplishments that make us believe in humanity and, even if for a brief moment, erase all the bad and hatred in the world. Unfortunate, but it’s always these drastic events that bring us closer together, helping us feel stronger about what it means to be a citizen of the world.

No one should ever be judged by who they are, and instead, embraced for who they want to be.

We decided to keep LGBT Pride Month going by selecting a few items that represent this community - it’s about positivity, togetherness, sexual diversity, and pride.

Let’s keep spreading the love and respect because everyone deserves to be a part of something bigger.
