Your early 20s are a fun time with not a care in the world, but life in your late 20s is flat out scary.
If you’re in your late 20s and single, you think you’ll be alone forever; if you hate your job, you think it’s too late to switch, and if you gain 1lb, you think you’re unattractive.
Like I said… scary! Instead of stressing about things you can’t control, hone in on what you can control.
Life in your late 20s is the time for laser sharp focus.
Step 1: Check in with yourself.
At this point in the game, you’ve gotten to know yourself pretty well. Just when you think you got it together, you realize ‘holy crap, I’m 29 and I hate my job’ or ‘holy crap, I’m 30 and single’. Now before you start freaking out, listen up.
There is nothing wrong with you.
You hear me? Nothing!
Maybe you’ve neglected certain areas of your life, which is why you’re in the situation you’re in. So, an easy fix is to check in with yourself weekly or monthly to see which part of your life needs a little TLC.
Have you fallen off the exercise bandwagon? Are you so focussed on your career, you’ve turned down dates? Have you settled for a job you hate because it’s comfortable?
Once you know what target area is suffering, you can make the adjustments necessary to have a satisfied, successful, and purpose-driven life.
Step 2: Start a side hustle.
In today’s digital world, anything is possible. You can learn how to build a website, start a clothing line, or publish a book with the click of a button. Having a side hustle helps you develop skills and confidence.
The more positive things outside of your normal routine you’re involved in, the less you’ll stress about how to deal with life in your late 20s. You’ll be too busy enjoying a life you love.
Step 3: Accept the ride
There’s always going to be someone smarter, younger, hotter, and wealthier than you. There’s also going to be people less privileged, unhealthy, not as smart, and older than you. Don’t stress about it, accept it. Express your gratitude for what you do have and stop worrying about what you don’t have. Many people would kill to switch places with you. So, draw from your strengths instead of comparing your weaknesses. And enjoy the ride because you only get one.
