How To

15 Minute Airport Face

Written by: Susan Hang

Heading to the airport for Paris in T-3 hours

and not exactly sure what I should do with my face given the lengthy flight and work schedule as soon as I arrive. I’ve never been on a plane ride this long so from what I’ve experienced - a whole 5 hours - I need to whip up something quick and easy yet promising enough to sail me through the entire day. (Note to self: Paris is 6 hours ahead.)

For someone whose favorite kind of makeup is one that indicates almost none at all, I know the skin must come first and this alone mandates much time and care in its own way. It needs to appear naturally moisturized and hydrated; ideally dewy, but not shiny - youthful and fresh without being too obvious. And though I most often talk up a big storm about sultry eyes, I’m not bothering for the the air (or lack thereof) ride. I’d rather not run the risk of unexpected narcoleptic tendencies ensuing undesirable smudges and eyeliner transfers. So just flushed flesh this time - let’s get started…

1. For this effect, I apply a dollop of La Prairie Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluide Pure Gold followed by my faithful Dr. Hauschka Quince Day Cream and let the two sink into a glorious dream.

2. Then comes primer and right now, I’m totally diggin’ Hourglass N28 Primer for my maniacal dry skin. Then, I fuse equal parts of Nars Tinted Moisturizer and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation, make swipes across my face and blend away with damp beauty blender.

3. Time to fake an awaken face - my eyes to be exact (these bags don’t lie) and nothing does that better than my Lancome Maquicomplet Concealer capped with my endlessly raved Dior Radiance Boosting Pen. For the discoloration around my nose and unwanted blemishes, Dior Star Concealer has been pretty life changing.

4. This face needs to be sealed hailing from the U.S. all the way to Paris so I’ll bust out my cream blush and liquid highlighter before dusting it off with powder - Stila & Becca are two true loves of my life.

5. Letting that base penetrate my skin now, I move onto the brows first by priming them then working in brow powder and pencil. You already know by now how much I love Nars Eyeshadow Primer and Anastasia Brow Wiz. Nonstop talk!

6. That should be enough time for everything to sink in, so I’ll follow up swift and subtly with all the necessary powders as advised in this post to ensure a budge-proof base - bronzer, highlighter, & blush.

7. Base checked. Now onto the eyes - eyeliner is a must for me and the kind with a flick is my never-fail choice. I’ll pop in a matte brown eyeshadow color in the crease and a light, iridescent tint in the inner corners. Finally, off to pump the lashes and finish with many coats of mascara - voila!

7. Lip balm is much needed this time of year so oui to Dior - you know it.

…blending right in like a French or so I hope since I’ve never actually been there. :)
