This is the stuff fashion dreams are made of…
I was invited last season to come into the Zimmermann showroom to select a look prior to the SS16 show and shoot it and share with you all.
The memory is so clear for me, even today. I was moved by the whole experience and I wish I could relive it because today I feel like I could have done a better job with the shoot, I could have better handled my nerves knowing what to expect. This season I was more prepared - I knew the collection was going to be great and that I would be thrown into a hive of activity. I knew I needed to be discreet so I might not disturb the process (the genius) between Nikky Zimmermann, stylist Michelle Jank, and their team. I knew there would be make-up artists planning the beauty looks, seamstresses making final adjustments, models walking and casting.
Envying that little fly on the wall!
This is where the magic happens and I’d like to compare it to the editing process with my own images. You can take the photographs and pull them together, but you can’t sell the mood until you’ve added your filters and adjustments, pulling it all together. That’s what goes on in the days just before a runway show - the collection is created beforehand, but the story is really told through the added the styling, the casting, the beauty looks, and the music. It’s a labour of love and teamwork and I believe it’s one of the art forms of our business. A true performance.
So I was invited once again to try out a look prior to the show and share it here exclusively at Zanita Studio. As you can probably tell, I selected the most editorial look I could find - metallic and incredible in movement. Totally original yet quintessentially Zimmermann. I’m so excited for you all to see the show! As this post goes live, it’s about to begin here in NYC. Don’t forget to check out #zimmermannfw16 to catch it live as it happens on instagram! Trust me, this one is going to be very special.
Special thanks to MCM PR, Nicky Zimmermann, and their whole team for inviting me to wear and shoot this look and share it with you. Still pinching myself - feeling incredibly lucky.
