For a lot of people, New Years day is a blow off. It’s usually a day of sleeping in, not feeling super fresh, probably one spent drinking lots of water and watching reruns of popular TV shows. Many are perhaps wishing they didn’t do what they did the night before and starting the new year with regrets. That’s definitely not the way to start the year if you want to dominate!!!!
Here are 5 ways to stay on top of your game and start the New Year with a bang!
Don’t go to bed too late
Stay up to bring in the New Year but take mental note that your body needs rest and if you want to feel good at the start of the year, you need some good shut eye time.
Don’t wake up hungover
Have a few drinks but remember water is the answer to stay hydrated. And don’t have so much alcohol that you’ll ruin the entire next day. Know your limit!
Exercise
Wake up and go for a run or collaborate with a friend to workout on the oval or at the beach! Trust me you will feel on top of the world. Starting the new year with some exercise is a great idea.
Watch the first sunrise of the year and take 5 minutes to be grateful
Don’t worry what time you went to bed (I advocate a mandatory mid-day nap anyway :). Set your alarm and get up to watch the sunrise. It’s pretty darn magical. Then spend time thinking about the past year and write down 3 things you’re grateful for and also reflect on 3 things you’re grateful for in this moment. It doesn’t need to be life changing, it’s just important to stop and appreciate some of the amazing things you’ve experienced, received, or achieved.
Setting Goals
It can be one thing that you want to work on, something you want to achieve, or something that is going to drive you. Setting goals is a great way to have a clear idea on what you want to do in the year coming. It will give you drive and motivation.
Make sure they’re SMART:
- Specific - define exactly what you want to achieve so you know when you’ve done it.
- Measurable - come up with a may to measure you progress and know when you’ve completed it.
- Attainable - be realistic… make sure it’s a stretch but still possible.
- Relevant - Make sure it makes sense in the rest of your life and is something you really want to focus on.
- Time-bound - You gotta set a realistic time frame that can keep you working hard.
Hope you all had an amazing 2015! But bring it on 2016 - MAKE IT YOUR YEAR!!
