It’s very interesting how different people react to trends.
I have realised that the opinions seem to be based on associations. Haven’t we all been in a situation where the guy just can’t, at ALL, understand how on earth one would think that oversized sweater or floral trousers are cool in any way? This most probably is due to the fact that he only saw grandma’ wear it while you on the other hand got that last editorial in Harpers Bazaar and on those stylish fashion week streetstyle star ladies as your references.
I was consulting a shoe brand on shoe trends a while ago. With excitement, I pointed out a pair of patent thigh high boots (presented to them by one of the factories they work with) and my clients reaction was a confused face and quote:
‘These? Really? They are such strip club shoes, aren’t they?!’
…to which I replied that my thoughts went straight to the Dior fall/winter 2015 show. Looveee!!!
Over the knee boots are HUGE this season & here are the secrets to styling them:
- Go for suede! They aren’t that dramatic and look really cool with the 70’s A-line skirts we’ve seen everywhere lately.
- If you feel like trying the patent thigh high boot trend, try wearing it with a knitted dress, a cool coat or a 60’s inspired dress. Personally I would avoid anything too tight, short or revealing.
- Wear cashmere or wool stockings underneath. They’re quite matte which gives a cozy feeling which will balance out the look.
- Another way to dress them down a bit is to pair them with a denim piece.

BONUS: You will definitely stay warm with these shoes during winter time, win!!
