I have a love/hate relationship with the pace of the fashion industry.
One minute, a trend will be the hottest thing out - then it’ll be dropped like a hot potato. I was just getting used to boyfriend jeans! Alas - put those away - the time for flares is here.
I’m not exactly following Sara’s philosophy when it comes to dressing - so often I find myself a few seasons gone with too plenty garments deemed *gasp* out of fashion. As a dedicated fashion lover - does this mean that the piece has got to go? Or perhaps put on ice for ten years, when the style comes around again?
I believe there’s a way - you can pull trends forward, will some ingenuity and creativity, by using statement pieces that are neither on trend or off. Some creative styling - and that’s the key word, STYLE. Style stands apart from Fashion and transcends seasons. I really believe that commendable and creative personal style comes instinctively, influenced by not only fashion, but all things around us, movies, art, society, culture - and of course the love of expression through style.
So wear the cargo pants! But be sure to add a two tone woolly coat, a good white sneaker, a cowl neck and a bucket bag for extra character. Or pull together your own recipe.
I firmly believe that “I can’t pull that off” is a statement about confidence more than clothes. If you wanna wear, you gotta own it - and don’t let the clothes or the fashion wear you.
