How to wear sequins without looking like you're buying a one way ticket to Vegas.
Watching the Aje show I couldn't help but be reminded of Disney's The Little Mermaid, where Ariel washes up on shore and Sebastian helps her fashion a dress out of an old sail sheet. Now I know these garments are nothing as rudimentary and makeshift as that garment but there was certainly as element of 'glamourous beauty dragged up out of the ocean' going on. Perhaps it was the incredibly functional military boots paired with the 'fish scale' sequins and layers and layers of pearls which kinda suggested that the Aje girl had not clue exactly how luxurious or how dramatic her shipwreck-inspired look really was. Either way it was amazing to be there to see such a beautiful presentation in a stunning venue (Paspasley Pearls), there was really some amazing talent that went into the construction of these pieces. I really need some of this sequined fabulousness in my life - and especially that black bomber! (Yes, I'm bomber obsessed)
